Attractions of Bahman (January - February)

1- Qeshm Island: Cold weather is roaming Northern parts of the country, but in the South, you can enjoy the pleasant climate of Qeshm Island. This beautiful diamond-shaped island in the Persian Gulf has plenty of natural attractions: Mangrove forests, Salt-caves, Sandy beaches, Marine life, Coral reefs, Mountains shaped by wind, … spiced with warm-blooded locals, magnificent foods and rich culture. Don’t miss this incredible part of Iran in this season.

2- Osprey: This elusive bird of prey has a vast distribution along the coast of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. There are few known active nests in islands of this region including in Farur Island P.A. .

3- Snow sports: Iran has two major mountain ranges which provide pleasant ski resorts in them. 13 International ski slopes have been established and several locals could be find in different parts of Iran, which Dizin, Shemshak and Tochal have International fans from around the world.

4- Wild Sheep: Nowadays in most of protected areas in mountainous habitats, herds of Rams and Ewes with young lambs migrate to lower elevations and are more accessible. In this critical situation, game-wardens provide them with food and protection against poachers. Varjin P.A. in 30km of Tehran is one of the best locations for observation and capturing photos of them.

5- Palm squirrel: Winter is the best time to visit Southern Iran. In palm gardens of Sistan-Baluchistan, this cute creature could be observed easily. A local belief says that stripes on the back of this species are the finger-print of gods.

6- Persian leopard mating-season: In the middle of winter both male and female leopards began to be more active and most of times they could be observed even during day-time. Near dawn and dusk their saw-like calling is a perfect sign for wildlife-lovers.

7- Kalouts (Lout Desert): Near Shahdad city in Kerman province, you can find these magnificent geological creatures. Erosive wind and water have shaped them in hundreds of years. This phenomenon is called Kalout in Persian language.

8- Sea gulls: These familiar birds of coastal areas have different plumage during winter season which make them even harder to identify.

9- Ice-climbing: There are several famous ice-climbing sites in Southern Central Alborz region namely: Hasan’dar- Homelun- Sangan. Please just try this dangerous sport under supervision of instructors with safety materials.

10- Mond P.A.: This coastal protected area is located in Bushehr province. Acacia trees make this habitat much like African Savannas. Goitered gazelle, Wild cat, Jungle cat and Wild boar can be observed in this area. Estuary habitats of this area make it suitable for migratory water birds.
