Attractions of Mehr (September - October)
1- Wild Boar: Wild boars occur in most parts of Iran. During October they are attracted
to various trees and gardens for their fruits. Although villagers usually don’t
welcome them at all!

2- Brown Bear: By reaching the cold season in high attitudes, Brown Bears leave
grasslands for lower forests. They gain fat by feeding on autumn fruits of fall,
and to be ready for winter hibernation.

3- Sandgrouse: this bird makes its nest on the ground. 7 species are abundant in
Iran and most of them are common in dry habitats. Pallas’s sandgroues occur only
in NE of Iran for winters.


4- Levantine Viper: is one of the most poisonous vipers of mountains and grasslands
of Iran. This snake is one of the largest species in Iran.

5- Bagh’shadi P.A. - Yazd: This is one of the re-introduction sites of Persian fallow
deer which has been promoted to a protected area recently. This is one of the historical
habitats of the species and contains mainly almond and oak trees.

6- Dorfak & Deylaman forests: during autumn is the best time for enjoying perfect
weather and trekking in forests of Caspian region. In this season humidity is lower
and precipitation in forest is easier.



7- Harvesting pistachio: this is pistachio time in most of villages and cities of
Kerman province in central Iran. Pistachio is one of the famous exports of Iran.
8- Dalmatian Pelican: observation of this huge-sized, endangered species in large
numbers in Parishan international wetland is a unique attraction of this month.
Dalmatian pelican is present in most of wetlands of Iran during winter-time.


9- Nomads Seasonal Migration: This is the start time for Iranian (Especially in
western parts) nomads to migrate to warmer parts of their annual journey. Nomads
are one of the magnificent attractions of tourism in Ian.

10- Eurasian Lynx: This wild cat is distributed in N and NW of Iran, although every
year few unconfirmed reports received in West and central Iran. There is little
information available on this species in Iran. Lagomorphs contain main diet of Lynx
in the World.
