Attractions of Shahrivar (August - September)
1- Stags roaring display: One of the most impressive scenes of the nature is Red
deer stags roaring display. Red deer is the largest deer of Iran. The stronger stags
warn the others with their loud roaring display during the courtship period (Aug.
& Sep.). Sometimes severe fighting may occur.

2- See-See partridge: One of the arid and semi-arid birds of Iran. They can be observed
by the water sources in dry seasons.

3- Caracal: This wild cat lives in central deserts of Iran. The regular preys of
this cat are birds and hare. The scientific and English name of this cat is derived
from the Turkish word meaning “black ear”.

4- Trans-Caucasian meadow viper: Is one of the most poisonous serpents of the mountainous
areas of Alborz. This small viper is mainly seen in the grasslands above the tree
line.

5- Persian follow deer: Persian follow deer which has been rescued with pain stacking
efforts from extinction is surviving only in Iran in Semeskande W.R.,Dashtenaz W.R.
(Mazandaran) Lavandevil W.R. (Gilan), Arjan & Parishan P.A. (Fars), Ashk island
in Lake Urumieh N.P.(west Azarbayjan) and Bagh’shadi P.A.(Yazd) nowadays.

6- Margoun waterfall: This protected area (Fars Province) is one of the unique forest
landscapes of western Iran, Which has a colony of Oak forests and is a great habitat
for the Persian Squirrel.


7- Apple time in Khafr: by the time of Aug. and Sep. the main attraction of the
western parts of Iran is harvesting apples and its feasts are holding by locals
every year.

8- Bamou national park: This national park is located in Fars province. During one
day visiting the park goittered gazelle, wild sheep, wild goat, wild boar and signs
of leopard and hyaena could be observed.

9- Abr village: By approaching the cooler season it’s a good experience trekking
upon the clouds of Abr village in Semnan Province. Abr means clouds in Farsi.


10- Houbara Bustard: This desert dwelling bird lives in most plains of Iranian plateau.
Iran has both resident and winter migrant populations. They are highly threatened
by poaching, live capturing and smuggling to Arab countries in coast of the Persian
Gulf.
