The sorrowful demise of Dr. Hormoz Asadi is a great loss to all of the friends of
environment and wildlife...
Dr. Hormoz Asadi a renowned ecologist lost his life through a car accident while
relocating a number of Persian Fallow deer on the midnight of Wednesday 9th Jan.
Next to him, another valuable friend of environment and wildlife Mr. Abaspour (head
of Dena Protected area) also lost his life.
Dr. Asadi dedicated over 40 years of his life to protect the wildlife of Iran and
other parts of the world such as Pakistan, Australia, Nepal, US, UAE, Africa, south
east Asia and some European countries. Also he was involved in conservation of Tiger
project in India. Having been a member of Cat specialists group of IUCN, he was
the initiator of the modern conservation of Asiatic Cheetah in Iran. Dr. Asadi spent
many years of his life protecting Asiatic Cheetah, Caspian seal and Persian Fallow
deer. Asadi is a well-known name to numerous number of environment students who
have directly been bestowed by his academic engagement or benefited from the results
of his scientific endeavors. This University professor, who has been one of the
first educators in the department of environment, has also been the head and initiator
of the Caspian seal project and the Seal research center.
For the last 12 years he mainly worked on different species of wildlife of Iran.
All his work has been of lasting effect on the body of knowledge in the whole field
specially and most specifically on Caspian seal.
Our deep condolence goes to all friends of environment and wildlife.
In his memory a mourning section will be held in Alghadir mosque in Mirdamad- Tehran
on Monday 14th Jan. from 13-14:30 p.m.
His loss is like loosing thousands in sense of knowledge experience and humanity.
