The second 3-day summer camp held on Varesh. (6-8 August, 2008)

Wednesday 6 August, 2008 - 6:00 AM
Seven young adventurous girls (aged 9-14) set off for the beautiful part of Kiashahr. Thus begins their first experience in the great outdoors.

This summer camp, known as "Man, Nature, and New Experiences" is both an educational and recreational event organized by the Plan for Land Society. It seeks to introduce young people to the biodiversity of different ecosystems through participation in an ecotourism camp, with the hope of inspiring in them a greater appreciation for nature.

In the course of this 3- day camp, the participants developed a greater respect for nature, sense of independence and responsibility, and better group cooperation and organizational skills.

The participants were taught first aid, how to set up a tent, how to read a compass and photography. Professor Mohandes Zahzad taught the children about the jungle eco-system and familiarized them with the various flora of the region. We thank him for volunteering his time to share with us his expertise.

The young participants had the opportunity to venture onto the lake of Kiashahr in traditional boats. In addition to enjoying the tranquility of the lake, they were also able to familiarize themselves with its ecosystem. By gathering various samples of flora from around the lake, the children were able to observe the biodiversity of this ecosystem.

The children also participated in night walks, recreational and group activities. On the last day of camp the children worked together on an art project, in which they made use of the various plants they had gathered and learned about within the course of the camp.

Given that minimal attention is paid to the topics of art and the environment in school, this camp was organized to provide participants with basic knowledge that they could later build upon through their own reading and research. The children were encouraged to further pursue their interest in the environment and develop their artistic abilities. At 2:30 PM on Friday 8August 2008, the children bed farewell to their new friends and camp came to an end. They promised to make a plan to see each other again in the near future.

The Plan for Land Society thanks all the parents, whose trust and support made this event possible.
Our gratitude is also, Mana Construction Material, and on top of all to Mr. Alireza Moradi, all for their generous support for this project.

Our next camping program is planned for 27-29 August for boys. See you there!
