The Persian Leopard festival in Shiraz
The Persian Leopard festival will be held on the 30th and 31st of Decembers as an
effort of Plan for the Land Society members.
This festival is held with the aims of teaching children about Persian Leopard and
Bamu National Park in Shiraz. A large number of children aged 7 to 17 years from
19 villages around the Bamu National Park will take part in this festival; they
have been trained on environmental issues in the past years by the Plan for the
Land Society and now they can share their knowledge to the Shiraz children.
As a side event of this festival, an exhibition of artworks of children from villages
around Bamu National Park will be held. The artworks mostly will be in form of wallpapers,
short stories, paintings and …. Which are related to the wildlife of Bamu National
Park and especially Persian leopards.
This festival will be held on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm and on Friday 9 am to 5 pm
in Shiraz city.
It is worth mentioning that according to the latest Plan for the Land Society research
using camera-traps in Bamu National Park, until the year 2009, only 6 adult leopards
and 1 cub have survived.
