Persian leopard festival in Bamu National Park and Shiraz
Persian leopard festival was held on the 1st of December in Shiraz city.
This festival was held in accordance to the Plan for the Land Society activities
on biodiversity conservation and 400 children participated in it at the Tavousiyeh
cultural center in Shiraz city.
The aim of this festival was education and awareness-raising about environmental
protection with focus on the Persian leopard species and it’s current situations
to the children from villages of Bamu National Park.
This festival had different parts such as: programmes on biodiversity, felines,
endangered Persian Leopard, food cycle, Bamu National Park, short films, educational
games, exhibition of children artworks, speech, etc which were welcomed by children
and also their parents.
Children were brought to the event by five buses, from their villages to the festival
place. They taken part in four educational games and their prizes were medals which
had carved “supporter of Persian Leopard” motto on them.
As for the ending ceremony of the festival several speakers gave talksabout importance
of Bamu National Park and Persian Leopard and also the educational and conservation
activities of the Plan for the Land Society including:
Mr. Ebrahimi Karnami, head of Fars provincial office of Department of Environmet,
Mr. Valavi, deputy head of the same office, Mr. Houshmandi , Director of the Bamu
National Park, Mr. Hamed Moshiri, Plan for the Land Society CEO and Mr. Amir Hossien
Khaleghi , from Persian Leopard project of Plan for the Land Society.
Also, at that festival game-wardens who had cooperated in protection of wildlife
species in this park were acknowledged. In addition, Shadi Tavakoli Mehr, Yasaman
Talebi and Azar sedaghati khayat who had responsibility of planning and organizing
the educational programs were appreciated.
At the festival, a board including letters from villages of Bamu National Park students
was provided and dedicated to the game-wardens of the National Park.
This festival was held by support of Fars provincial office of the Department of
Environment, “Prince Bernard“ foundation and “Abar Poulad Iranian” company.
